It's been a little over a week since the passing of Florida Rapper XXXTentacion and fans across the country are still morning the loss of one of their favorite rappers. As memorials are continued to be held across the country the most recent tribute to the late rapper comes from ATL Rapper Lil Yachty. On Sunday, June 24th Yachty sent out a tweet originally asking fans if they would be down to hold something for X and then in a separate tweet he invited fans of his and XXX alike to join him in a park in Atlanta for a candle lighting saying: "TOMORROW THE 25TH XXX CANDLE LIGHTING IN CENTENNIAL PARK @ 8:45. ATLANTA RETWEET THIS. NEED ALL @xxxtentacion FANS TO COME OUT 2 PAY RESPK,".
Yachty was able to gather a large crowd for the vidual despite the rain that caused the event to be delayed. Speaking to the fans that had gathered to pay their respects and show loved about XXXTentacion he said "His music meant a lot," Yachty told the crowd in a video posted on Instagram. "It was actually way before his time if you think about it... It's not til now that I understand everything that he had said.". Yachty continued to talk about his friend and then went on to play some of his hits including his song "Sad!", which since his passing has skyrocketed on the charts now sitting at Number 1, the song had originally peaked at #7 when he was still alive. Also, XXX's streaming numbers for all his music has skyrocketed more than 700,000% since his death.
XXXtentacion was shot and killed at the age of 20 Years old while shopping for motorcycles in Florida when a gunman ran up and shot him. At the time it was said that X had no pulse as the gunman got away. After being rushed to the hospital only a matter of hours later the rapper was pronounced dead. Currently, the case is still under investigation as an arrest for the murder has been made Dedrick Devonshay Williams (22) was taken in by police last week, while they are still looking for another man who was involved in the murder.
