Taco Bell Debuts Its Longest Shell Ever With The Triplelupa

Taco Bell is introducing a bold new version of one of their most popular menu items. The Tripleupa gives fans of the classic Chalupa "three times the reason to get excited" about a trip to their local Taco Bell location. Here's everything you need to know about the latest addition to Taco Bell's lineup.

“At Taco Bell, we recognize and love the fandom that the Chalupa has cultivated over the years, and it’s why we want to bring our fans an all-new flavor and shell experience with the Triplelupa,” Kristine Futalan, Associate Manager of Research & Development at Taco Bell and lead product developer behind the Tripelupa, said in a press release. “The Triplelupa’s nationwide launch gives us the opportunity to celebrate the transformation of this beloved menu item, and we can’t wait for everyone to taste this latest innovation.”

Here's a look at the epic Triplelupa, which combines three mini chalupas to create the longest shell in Taco Bell history. This latest spin on the fan-favorite Chalupa is the first ever tear-apart menu item at Taco Bell. Each of the mini shells have different flavors: Nacho Cheese on one end, Chipotle on the other, and a combination of the two, Cheesy Chipotle, in the middle.

Taco Bell even shared a graphic depicting the evolution of the Chalupa over the years. The popular menu item was first introduced back 1999. Over the years, the Chalupa has continuously "transformed in shape, form and ingredients to become the most reinvented Taco Bell menu item of all time," the chain explained. Other popular iterations include the Baja Chalupa in 2000, the Double Chalupa in 2017 and the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa in 2019.

Taco Bell is also introducing Veggie Mode to their self-service kiosks on Thursday (March 12), which will allow customers to order meat-free versions of any of their classic meat-centric menu items. Hopefully the Tripleupa will be available on Veggie Mode, too. The Triplelupa starts at $3.49 plus tax and is available for a limited-time only. Will you be testing out this latest version of the Chalupua?
