Charli XCX Bares Her 'Claws' On New Glitch Pop Love Song: Listen

Charli XCX continues to deliver bops even in quarantine.

While most of us are sick of isolating amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the British songbird been inspired to release more new music from her upcoming "quarantine" album, how i’m feeling now. Her latest triumph manifests in a song called “claws,” a playfully auto-tuned track that contains all the nuts and bolts of a glitch pop love song.

The record opens to a coltish replay of Charli singing the words “I like” before telling beloved, “Like your mind, like your smile/ Like your eyes, I could die/ Aeroplane, you are so fly/ Singin' songs by Jeremih/ Party time, hop inside/ We're so high, roller-coaster ride/ Diamond bright, kiss me right, yeah/ That's so nice.”

In other parts of the bop, Charli delivers even more intimate lyrics, singing, "I'm not shy, make you sigh/ Slip and slide up my thighs/ Juicy just like clementines."

Dylan Brady of 100 gecs produced the up-tempo bop, which Charli previously teased via Twitter back on April 8, days before she unveiled a snippet of the vocal demo. Fans actually convinced the star to stick with naming the track “claws,” and Charli even commissioned various artwork for the single from her followers — ending up with three versions of the cover.

“Claws” is the second single to appear on how i’m feeling now. She previously released the LP’s first single, “forever,” a love ballad supposedly written about her long distance relationship with boyfriend Huck Kwong. Last week, she accompanied the record with a laid back music video she filmed from home while in quarantine — watch it here.
