FAT BOYS: Prince Markie Dee Dead at 52

There are reports that the cause of death was congestive heart failure. In the hours after the world learned of his passing, tributes poured in via social media.

  • In addition to his career with the Fat Boys, he also wrote and produced for Mariah Carey,J-Lo and Mary J. Blige and later became a radio host.

Fat Boys rapper Prince Markie Dee passed away Thursday at the age of 52.

The group’s manager,Louis Gregory, also known as Uncle Louie, confirmed the news via Twitter, where he wrote, “Forever in my Heart. Prince Markie Dee was more than a rapper; he was one of my very best and closest friends… My heart breaks today because I lost a brother. I’ll always love you Mark and I’ll cherish everything you taught me. Tomorrow is your birthday, swing my way big bro.”
