Scoring tickets to Hamilton just got trickier. The premium price for a ticket to the Broadway show hit $1,150 during the high-demand week between Christmas and New Year’s.
The cost is the first time premium seat prices hit four digits, according to Variety. Before that, the hottest shows valued just below the $1,000 mark. Regular tickets for Hamilton remain topped out at $199.
Premium seats distinguish themselves from the regular ones for their prime locations in the theater. They are usually more expensive to take advantage of a show’s high demand and to match the prices on the secondary market.
However, the fees shouldn’t skyrocket for too much longer. Prices are expected to return to normal in January, when there is typically a post-holiday slowdown.
