There's really no words that can be used to truly describe the love and appreciation that we should all offer our mothers, but we all try our best. In honor of Mother’s Day 2018 on Sunday (May 13), iHeartRadio decided to round up a couple of notable quotes from some of your favorite stars like Taylor Swift, Drake, and Selena Gomez and, boy, do they love their moms to pieces. 1. Drake
Drake once told the Huffington Post of his mom: “She's brought me to this point single-handedly... She's the most important person in my life.” This is also referenced in "God's Plan" with the line, "I only love my bed and my mama, I'm sorry." He follows up at the end by saying "We're nothing without our mothers. Gotta make sure you take care of your mom, too, no matter what you do. It's all we got. Trust me."
2. Taylor Swift
In addition to writing “The Best Day” about her mom, Taylor has praised her mom numerous times. Here’s her description of why she decided to pen the track about the woman who raised her:
“She would just take me on these adventures and we would drive around and go to towns we’d never seen before. Those adventures and those days of just running away from my problems — you’re not supposed to run away from your problems, but when you’re 13 and your friends won’t talk to you and they move when you sit down at the lunch table, and your mom lets you run from those problems, I think it’s a good thing … My mom was my escape in a lot of ways.”
3. Beyoncé
Beyoncé has paid tribute to her mom in numerous ways — most recently on Instagram after Tina Knowles’ WACO Theater fundraiser — but it was this quote to Oprah that really says it all.
“[My mom] is one of those people that you feel honored to meet. And no matter who you are, you fall in love with her because she is spiritual, she's inspiring, she's strong, she's funny, she's creative, she's talented... she's everything that I want to be.”
4. Selena Gomez
“My momma. I sit back and think about how much she has done and shown me,” Selena captioned a throwback photo of she and her mom on Instagram. “ It truly has blown me away. She teaches me most about life and I couldn't be luckier to have a partner like her in life.”
5. Harry Styles
Harry has always been super close with his mum, Anne Twist, but there’s one moment in particular that speaks volumes — it was early on in his career, when she told him that he’ll always be her baby. Anne told Harry, “I love you very much,” and Harry replied, “I love you too.” It might not seem like much, but the emotion on their faces — Harry’s, in particular, who looked like he might cry — really said it all.
6. Justin Bieber
Perhaps the most telling quote about just how much Justin respects his mom was when he was on the outs with her.
“I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was,” he told GQ in 2015. “We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust. She’s living in Hawaii now, so it’s hard, but getting better. She’s an amazing woman and I love her.”
7. Miley Cyrus
Miley was 14 when she came out to her mom as bisexual. It was Tish Cyrus’ response in that moment that shows the bond that she and Miley have.
“I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys,” the singer told Paper magazine. "And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn't want me to be judged and she didn't want me to go to hell. But she believes in me more than she believes in any god. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has.”
8. Austin Mahone
Austin’s mom Michele raised him as a single parent after his dad died when he was just a toddler. He dedicated his official book to her, writing: “This book is dedicated to my mom, who has sacrificed so much for me. You’re an amazing role model, and I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for you. Words can’t express how much I love you. Thanks for everything.”
9. Louis Tomlinson
After Louis Tomlinson’s mum, Johannah Deakin, passed away from cancer, Louis revealed that it was hard to go on. “But it was my mum who said to me that I've just got to keep going," he told Billboard. "She told me very sternly that she wanted me to.” And he did just that, dedicating his performance of “Just Hold On” on “The X Factor” to his mum.
10. Justin Timberlake
“We're best friends — she's a very special woman,” JT told the Daily Mail about his relationship with his mom, Lynn Harless. “She's been so supportive. She's partly the reason why I have so much respect for women.”
11. Kanye West
Kanye West has spoken often of how much his late mother meant to him, but perhaps nothing was as touching as this Twitter tribute involving his daughter, North. “NORI ASKED IF THE AIRPLANE COULD TAKE HER TO HEAVEN TO SEE YOU FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY,” Yeezy tweeted on his mom’s birthday. “I LOVE YOU MOM.”
12. Lucy Hale
Lucy Hale once described her song “From the Backseat” as “kind of like my mom's upbringing. She was a cheerleader, she fell in love with her high school sweetheart, her parents went on road trips. It's pretty much my mom's story.”
13. Ed Sheeran
Along with some of the other artists on this list who penned songs for their moms, Ed Sheeran revealed that “Supermarket Flowers” is actually about his late grandma — told from his mum’s point-of-view.
“It was just so spot on and the lyric of ‘you are an angel in the shape of my mom’, that could end upping a poignant line but it was the truth. … She was one of the nicest women you’d ever meet and she was my mom’s mom. It was written for my mom’s point of view.”
14. Demi Lovato
Demi and her mom have battled many of the same demons — including eating disorders. Now in recovery, Demi said of her mom: "I'm so…proud of her it makes me so happy. I love her so much."
