Nicki Minaj Announces New Alter Ego: Romania The Mermaid

Step aside Roman Zolanski, Nicki Minaj has a new alter-ego to call upon for the 'Queen' era! 

The 'Chun-Li' rapper's collaboration with singer Ariana Grande titled 'Bed' had a music video drop last week. The Barbz and Ken Barbz noticed Nicki was playing a character they might not have been introduced to before, so they reached out to their fave on social media to get some much needed clarification.

In the video below, scenes flow between Nicki Minaj sensually gliding around resort hotel rooms and pools to serving a full on mermaid fantasy on a tropical beach. The Lil Wayne collaborator sported some sultry, long green hair and even made the aquatic look complete with a full on fishy tail. 

After a fan tweeted the music video and referred to the mermaid character as Nicki Minaj in the caption, the 'Super Bass' songstress replied and set the record straight: we weren't watching her on that beach, it was someone (or something) else. 

Nicki Minaj said: 

That's not me. That's a real mermaid. We captured her in rare form. Before we knew it, she was gone. She didn't like the cameras & drones.

Following up on this reveal, another fan asked the question "what's her name?" and Nicki officially confirmed that 'Romania' had been born!

Nicki Minaj's much anticipated fourth studio album 'Queen' is set to be released next month on August 10th 2018. So far she's released four songs from the project 'Chun-Li,' 'Barbie Tingz,' 'Rich Sex' and the above collaboration with Ariana Grande. A co-headlining tour with Future to promote the project called the 'NickiHndrxx Tour' was also announced and is set to commence in September 2018.

The female MC also made headlines recently for awarding 37 high school students scholarships through her 'Students Of The Game' contest on social media and her website. She agreed to pay tuition and loans for a select number of dedicated fans.
