NYC, Tri-State In For A Snowy Afternoon

US-WEATHER

Forecasters are sticking to their earlier predictions of a snowy Monday afternoon in New York City and the surrounding region.

Islanders and city-dwellers should expect 1 - 3 inches of snow by late Monday night, while higher elevations in northern New Jersey, New York State and Connecticut could get 3 - 5 inches of accumulation, reports say.

Morning rain was expected to turn to snow early in the afternoon, with temperatures hovering in the low- to mid-30s. Snowy conditions were predicted to last through the night, with precipitation tapering in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will be bright with partly cloudy skies and warmer with highs around 40.

Wednesday will see a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid-40s.
