Ron Weasley is officially a dad!
On Thursday (May 7), Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome celebrated the birth of their first child, a daughter. “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl,” the couple’s representative told Us Weekly. “We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.”
The Harry Potter actor and the 28-year-old's pregnancy announcement was first made public in early April via the child star’s rep, who told the press at the time, "Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time.”
Grint and the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging actress have been romantically linked since 2011. After being spotted wearing matching gold bands last year, it was speculated that the lovebirds had married in secret. Those rumors, however, have not been verified.
The 31-year-old previously opened up about his wishes to start a family with Groome in a December 2018 interview with Guardian. “I’d like to settle down and have kids soon,” Grint told the outlet at the time. “If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.” He went on to tell the outlet: “I don’t know what the future holds. I’m just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens.”
