Grammys 2021 Postponed Over COVID-19 Concerns

Music's biggest night is on hold.

The 2021 Grammy Awards have been postponed from the originally scheduled date of January 31 due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19, according to Rolling Stone and Variety.

While organizers have yet to confirm a new date for the awards show, which was set to be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, sources told RS "they are aiming to hold the event sometime in March."

According to the outlet, the Academy previously planned to hold the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards without an audience or nominated artists, only allowing presenters and performers on-site during the show.

Trevor Noah was announced as the host of the 2021 Grammys late last year. However, it is unclear if he will still host this year’s show.

Beyoncé leads the pack of this year's Grammy nominees with nine nominations followed by Roddy Ricch, Taylor Swift, and Dua Lipa with six nods each.

The postponement news comes as California experiences a surge in coronavirus cases. On Monday (January 4), the state set a new single-day record of 74,000 new cases, according to the Los Angeles Times.
