The supergroup known as Brockhampton is facing some turbulent times as they have parted ways with one of their original members Ameer Vann after he is facing accusations of sexual misconduct. Singer-Songwriter Rhett Rowan dated Vann and earlier this month came out describing his behavior in their relationship as “emotionally manipulative and mentally abusive.” The former group member responded to these claims made by his former girlfriend in a series of now-deleted tweets in which he said: “I’ve been in relationships where I’ve f***** up and disrespected my partners. I’ve cheated and been dismissive to my exes, In response to the claims of emotional and sexual abuse: Although my behavior has been selfish, childish, and unkind, I have never criminally harmed anyone or disrespected their boundaries. I have never had relations with a minor or violated anybody’s consent.”
Kevin Abstract who is the leader of the group had addressed some of the statements made in the tweets by Ameer on his Instagram live. On his IG live he expressed that he didn't agree with anything that the Vann had admitted to doing on Twitter and revealed that his bandmate had been getting help for his issues for some time. Before closing out he expressed that he should have spoken up sooner and shouldn't have been quiet for so long.
The departure of Ameer puts Brockhampton in a tough spot because of how big of a role he had in the group's music covering all three albums of their "Saturation" trilogy. The group was also set to head out on a Summer tour performing at music festivals across the country including this weekend's Gov Ball in NYC. Addressing the claims the group took to twitter releasing a statement stating "We are going to cancel the remaining dates of our current US tour to go home and regroup". Since then it has been announced that Pusha T will be replacing the groups former set time at Gov Ball.
