Watch Prince Harry Burst Into Song At 'Hamilton' Performance

Do you think King George III ever imagined his 6x great-grandson would attend a charity performance of a hip hop musical based off the war he was fighting with the colonies? And that his great-great-great-great-great-great grandson would sing the opening lines of the song from that musical that hilariously makes fun King George? Probably not! But, alas, that very thing happened last night when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended a performance of Hamilton that helped raise money for the Sentebale charity

While making some remarks after the show, Harry kicked off his speech by singing the opening line of "You'll Be Back" from Hamilton, which is sung by the fictionalized version of King George III. The crowd literally goes wild - please take note of Lin Manuel Miranda's enthusiastic foot stomping - before Harry says, "Definitely not going to happen...[Lin] did try, but I said no."

It comes as no surprise, then, that the Duke of Sussex is a big fan of the musical, even though it pokes fun at his ancestor. ā€œWe saw it back in January, February and thought it was incredible,ā€ Meghan reportedly said at the event. ā€œHarry loved it, it was the first time he saw it, and now he canā€™t stop singing the songs!ā€ So, Prince Harry wanders around Kensington Palace singing songs from a musical about the American Revolution? That's pretty amazing.

Even though Prince Harry only sang two words, Hamilton's creator, Lin Manuel Miranda, was stoked about it. He shared Kensington Palace's tweet and added "King George III's great-great-great-great-great-great grandson The Duke Of Sussex sang a few bars tonight."

If the Duke can overcome his stage fright, let's have him cast as King George III in the movie adaptation. There really isn't anything more ~meta~ than that.
