Gwen Stefani's Sons 'Will Have A Large Part' In Wedding To Blake Shelton

Gwen Stefani's three sons will be by her side on the day she says "I Do" to fiancé Blake Shelton.

A source close to the couple recently told People that the No Doubt singer's son Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6, "will have a large part" in her upcoming wedding.

"Gwen's sons are just really solid, sweet kids, and they're so excited for Blake and Gwen to get married," the friend said. "They can't wait to stand by their sides."

Shelton and Stefani met in 2015 on the set of The Voice and started dating shortly after. At the time Shelton had just gone through a very public divorce with Miranda Lambert while Stefani had just ended her marriage with Gavin Rossdale.

"At first they were bonding over their splits and finding light in one another, but they quickly realized they have so much more in common than just going through heartbreak," the friend continued. "They're both incredibly close to their families and their lives are rooted deeply in their faith. He just fit so seamlessly into her life, and vice versa."

Shelton's relationships with her three sons has only grown stronger over the last five years.

"From the beginning, Gwen made it clear to Blake that her boys were No. 1 in her life, and Blake always respected this," the source said, adding, "He never wanted to overstep and made sure everyone was comfortable with his role in her sons’ lives."

When Shelton was planning his proposal, he knew he wanted Stefani's sons to be involved. Before proposing at his ranch in Oklahoma, the country singer made it a point to ask her sons for their permission first.

"Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission," a source close to Stefani previously told People. "Her family very much approves of him. He's an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys. Gwen is ecstatic. The proposal was a surprise."

The couple announced their engagement on Tuesday, October 27, sharing an adorable engagement photo to Instagram. "Yes please," Stefani simply captioned her post, while Shelton wrote, "Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020 and the rest of my life. I love you. I heard a YES!"
