Lorde Cancels Tel Aviv Show Amid Boycott Movement, But Is Forgiven

As per the Sunday paper of Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth, Lorde has made the decide to cancel her Tel Aviv show, which was scheduled for June 8, 2018, after receiving an overwhelming amount of backlash and a letter of reconsideration from The Spinoff and her announcement note discloses her entire mindset.

Previously asked to nix the gig to "join the artistic boycott" against the country's "policies of oppression, ethnic cleansing, human rights violations, occupation and apartheid," the 21-year-old titan made the move on Christmas Eve (December 24), admitting that she prides herself on beng an informed young citizen and she didn't make the right call in booking this show.

"hey guys, so about this israel show – i've received an overwhelming number of messages & letters and have had a lot of discussions with people holding many views, and i think the right decision at this time is to cancel the show," she wrote in a post, which was sent around social media and by her booking agency CAA. "i pride myself on being an informed young citizen, and i had done a lot of reading and sought a lot of opinions before deciding to book a show in tel aviv, but I'm not too proud to admit i didn't make the right call on this one."

Thankfully, Lorde has been forgiven for the cancellation, as per concert promoter Eran Arielli of Naranjah. "We forgive her," Arielli told Variety in a short statement, refusing to elaborate on the news. Read Lorde’s full statement below.
