Demi Lovato is reuniting with her Sonny With a Chance co-stars for something special!
As confirmed by Billboard yesterday (April 23), the former Disney Channel alum will appear alongside her old castmates from the show in a virtual reunion this weekend. The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer, who portrayed the titular Sonny Munroe on the popular teen show, will be joining Tiffany Thornton, Sterling Knight, Brandon Mychal Smith and Allisyn Snyder for the upcoming special, set to broadcast this Saturday (April 24).
Although Lovato has yet to announce the news herself, several of the show’s cast have posted ads for the upcoming event on Instagram. “It’s happening #world !!! I can’t wait to see my #SonnyWithAChance cast! I love every single one of you ❤️” wrote Smith. Knight added, “Y’all need to get ready!! #itsapartygetdown #sofarsogreat #swac #sorandom EVERYONE’S COMING!!!!!!”
As fans know, Lovato starred on the Sonny from February 2009 until the network confirmed her departure in April 2011. At the time, the “Anyone” musician had opted to check into treatment for personal struggles. The Disney sitcom focused on the life and experiences of Lovato’s Sonny, who becomes the latest recruit of the sketch comedy show, So Random!
Despite Lovato’s exit, Sonny had already been renewed for a third season, which prompted Disney to rebrand the series as a spin-off titled, So Random! Sadly, the show only lasted one season before it was cancelled.The virtual announcement comes weeks after Disney+ made the show available to stream on the network along with the first season of So Random!
