EXCLUSIVE: Behind The Scenes of John Legend's 'Penthouse Floor' Music Video

John Legend is giving fans a candid look behind the scenes of his music video for this single "Penthouse Floor," and iHeartRadio has the exclusive peek behind the curtain right here.

"Penthouse Floor" is from John's latest album Darkness and Light, and the official music video, directed by Dominique Deleon, dropped earlier this month on October 12th. In the politically-charged visual, we see a protest outside of a hotel that John is working at with protesters from Black Lives Matter, feminist protesters, and we even see a reference to Colin Kaepernick and the NFL protests. Meanwhile, inside the hotel, a fundraiser for Trump is taking place in a room full of his supporters.

In the exclusive behind the scenes video above, John explains that Deleon came to him with the concept idea for the visual to go along with the message of the track. "I felt like it really fit the spirit of the song perfectly," John says.

Director Dominique Deleon also opened up about the concept. He explains:

"The idea for this video, this hotel that John works in, we take him back to his days being John Stephens, Employee of the Month. There's a protest going on outside, and inside, there's a fundraiser for Trump. And as John goes through these different levels of the hotel, he's not only going through different levels of access to luxury and wealth. But he's getting closer and closer to that point where he reaches his dreams. So when he reaches the penthouse, he unites everybody, and brings everybody together, and it's very reflective of who John is as a person. He's a uniter and a person who really wants to understand all sides of the spectrum. So that's what we tried to do in the video."

And John says that this video will help bring the song to life. He says, "The video is gonna help the song come alive, because it explores some of the topics of the song, and helps you connect it to real life."
