Prince William, Kate Middleton Reunite With Prince Harry, Meghan Markle

Commonwealth Day Service 2020

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended their final engagement as full-time working royals on Monday (March 9). The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived at Westminster Abbey in London for the Commonwealth Day Service with big smiles on their faces. Things got a little awkward, however, when they reunited with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Commonwealth Day Service marks the first time Harry and Meghan have reunited publicly with William and Kate since they announced their decision to step down. Though neither the Sussexes or the Cambridges have spoken publicly about how this decision has effected their relationship, sources suggest the Cambridges didn't take the news well. Kate, in particular, is believed to have taken Harry's decision to move to Canada quite personally.

“She barely has time to rest, and when she does try to sleep, her mind is constantly racing,” a source told Us Weekly. The Duchess of Cambridge is reportedly "mourning" her relationship with her brother-in-law, as well. According to the source, Kate has been "crying over the literal and figurative distance between herself and her brother-in-law. She wishes she could speak to Harry," the source said. "She misses him and fears she’ll never be close to him again.”

In a video shared on Twitter by @RoyalCentral, Kate and William barely even say hello to Meghan and Harry when they arrived at Westminster Abbey. "The Duchess of Sussex waves to the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge as they arrive at the #CommonwealthDay Service," the tweet reads.

This is a far cry from the warm greeting Kate gave Meghan at last year's Commonwealth Day celebration. Upon Meghan's arrival at Westminster Abbey, Kate gave Meghan a hug and kiss as they awaited Queen Elizabeth.

Hopefully, the Sussexes' and Cambridges had a friendly reunion back at the palace.
