The Real Reason Diddy No Longer Wants To Own An NFL Team

At the end of 2017, Diddy announced that he dreamed of one day owning an NFL team. "I did have a dream to own a NFL team but now my dream is to own our own league!" the mogul tweeted to his millions of followers.

However, Diddy recently admitted that he's changed his mind about that goal. In a new interview on Real 92.3 LA's Big Boy's Neighborhood, the businessman said that he's no longer interested because he doesn't want to be in the same space as the other NFL owners who say that they will fine players who kneel during the national anthem.

In 2016, former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling when the national anthem played at games to protest police brutality against minorities. Over the course of two years, many other athletes also kneeled for the same reason. Now, the NFL is trying to bring a stop to it. So, Diddy wants no parts of the football league because many consider what the other owners are doing to be oppression of freedom of speech.

“I really wanted to go in there and be a part of the NFL, and try and be a positive change. This last move ... I don’t even want to own an NFL team no more,” Diddy told Big Boy. “I don’t want to be associated with oppressing black men. I don’t want to be associated with telling grown ass men what they can and can’t do.”

He continued: “To all my brother that are out there, I got y’all back. My feelings are hurt. Because I’m such an NFL fan, and I hope they do what they have to do to fix it, and I hope they re-engage my dream to want to do that.” Take a look at Diddy speaking about this below, as well as his entire interview with Big Boy.
