Dawn Wells, Mary Ann On 'Gilligan's Island,' Dead At 82

Gilligan's Island star Dawn Wells, who was known as Mary Ann on the iconic series, has died from COVID-19.

According to TMZ, Wells' rep confirmed that the actress passed away on Wednesday (December 30) due to the respiratory virus. She was 82. The star was one of the two surviving members of the cast. Tina Louise, who played Ginger on the show, is now the only surviving cast member. As you know, the show, which ran from 1964 to 1967, was a cultural staple and revolved around a batch of characters who became shipwrecked on a deserted island.

Besides her role as Mary Anne, Wells appeared in more than 60 TV series, including The Wild Wild West and Bonanza, as well as feature films and Broadway. If that wasn't enough, Miss Nevada in the 1959 Miss America pageant also established an institute for up and coming filmmakers in Idaho called Spud Film Institute.
