The brush fire near The Dalles, called the Milepost 85 fire, is 70% contained this morning.
The fire burned 130 acres in grass, brush, and scattered timber on both sides of I-84.
A helicopter and ground crews stopped the fire.
I-84 was closed yesterday when power lines fell across the freeway. They were removed and the freeway was reopened. Level 3 evacuations were reduced to Level 1 and residents were allowed to return home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
