Kanye West's a little bit hip-hop and a little bit rock and roll, if you ask him.

The "Love It" rapper is such a believer in his rockstar sound he's submitted his Kid Cudi collab "Freeee (Ghost Town, Pt. 2)" for "Best Rock Song" and "Best Rock Performance" for the 2019 Grammys, TMZ reports. Sources told the site, "submissions have already made it through the screening process and were sent out on the first round ballot to voters."

While some may be surprised by Ye's decision to submit the song, which is one of seven from his and Cudi's Kids See Ghosts album, to the rock category, it's actually not a far stretch. The song does have a somewhat of a punk rock sound, given its spooky beat, which is also emphasized with the song's heavy use of the electric guitar and drums.

News of Kanye's Grammy submission comes just days after he uncharacteristically donated $73,540 to Amara Enyia's campaign for Chicago mayor. The "Lift Yourself" rapper backed Enyia less than a week after Chance The Rapper endorsed her. Ye's donation was the "exact amount in fines she faced from state election officials in connection with her brief 2015 campaign for mayor," the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Illinois State Board of Elections fined Enyia for not closing her 2015 campaign account after she withdrew from the race that year. However, with Ye's donation, the hefty fines were cleared.

The "Fade" rapper was spotted alongside Chance and Enyia at a Woodlawn campaign event in Chicago, following his generous donation, on Tuesday (October 23).
