Drake, Ice Cream Man, Gives Away $10K In Free Frosty Treats

Canadian rhymester or the Ice Cream Man? Drake's latest gesture of soft-served kindness is helping fans stay cool for the summer. On Friday (July 20), the "In My Feelings" rapper cashed out more than $10,000 in frozen treats to satisfy sweet tooths at five different Los Angeles suburbs, TMZ reported.

Drake apparently set up four stands in the Hidden Hills district and another at Calabasas' The Commons where he dolled out free frosty sweets to passing pedestrians. Why the spontaneous act of compassion? He thought it would be a "cool thing to do on a hot day for the community."

Though he is, in fact, quite the charitable spirit — as evidenced in his "God's Plan" music video, in which the emcee donates more than $900,000 to Miami locals — insiders told TMZ the musician's generous giveaway was done in support of the release of his fifth studio album, Scorpion, which arrived back in June. To promote the effort, Drake supposedly had lyrics scrawled on the sides of his ice cream cart. Nice one, Drizzy!

Since the arrival of his 25-track double album, Drake's Scorpion has spawned two No. 1 singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 with "God's Plan" and "Nice for What."
