Wild Video Captures Judge Chasing Inmates Who Tried To Flee Courtroom

A Washington State courtroom descended into chaos after two handcuffed inmates tried to make a run for it. 22-year-old Tanner Jacobson and 28-year-old Kodey Howard were being led out of the courtroom and back to their jail cells when they bolted from authorities. The two men ran into a stairwell and were attempting to get outside when District Court Judge R.W. Buzzard jumped into action.

"I was shocked at first," Buzzard told KOMO News. "I didn't know what to think"

Judge Buzzard ditched his robe and chased after them. He managed to tackle one of the suspects in the stairwell, while the other inmate made it outside.

"Once I got to the stairwell I knew I was going to be able to catch the one that was just in front of me because I immediately started gaining on him," Buzzard said. "I was yelling at them all the way down the stairs to 'stop, you're making things worse.'"

Cops were able to track down the second escaped inmate a few blocks away. Jacobson and Howard are now facing charges of second-degree escape.
