Pete Carr of LeBlanc & Carr fame has passed away

Pete Carr, a legendary session player who teamed with fellow Muscle Shoals Studio musician Lenny LeBlanc on the soft rock smash "Falling," died Saturday. He'd just turned 70 back on April 22nd.

According to the Muscle Shoals Studio Facebook page, Carr died in Florence, Alabama. After working with Gregg and Duane Allman in the early band Hour Glass, Carr joined the Muscle Shoals musical circle, where he played on classics such as Rod Stewart's "Tonight's the Night," Bob Seger's "Main Street" and Paul Simon's "Kodachrome" -- as well as songs by Joe CockerBoz Scaggs and Wilson Pickett.

LeBlanc posted on Facebook, calling Carr "an amazing guitar player, producer and a great inspiration to many." Recalling guitar riffs that were "simply iconic...Pete invited me to move to Muscle Shoals in 1973 [and] later was instrumental in securing a record deal for me with Atlantic records and we teamed up a year later to form LeBlanc & Carr.💔"
