Harry Styles, 27, will portray a queer character opposite The Crown’s Emma Corrin in My Policeman, an upcoming romantic drama Amazon Studios.
According to Deadline, the Golden Globe-nominated actress, 25, popularly known for her star turn as Princess Diana in the Netflix series, and the “Watermelon Sugar” singer-songwriter to play two-thirds of a twisted love triangle in an “exquisitely told, tragic tale of thwarted love” based on Bethan Roberts’ novel of the same name.
Roberts’ novel is a queer romance that originally takes place in the ‘50s, but an adaptation produced by Greg Berlanti, Robbie Rogers, and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti-Schechter Films envisions the story in the late ‘90s. The film will be helmed by Michael Grandage (Red, Genius).
As described by Deadline, My Policeman “takes place in the late 1990s, when the arrival of elderly invalid Patrick into Marion (Corrin) and Tom’s (Styles) home, triggers the exploration of seismic events from 40 years previous: the passionate relationship between Tom and Patrick at a time when homosexuality was illegal. Styles and Corrin are set to star as Tom and Marion, respectively.”
My Policeman is the latest film to which Styles has been attached since his part in rumored girlfriend Olivia Wilde's upcoming drama, Don’t Worry Darling, was confirmed in 2020. The latter film follows unhappy housewife Alice (Florence Pugh) in the ‘50s as she uncovers a disturbing secret about her husband Jack, played by Styles.
For Corrin’s part, My Policeman will be the fourth film in which she’s starred after 2020’s Misheaviour and 2018’s Alex’s Dream.
