12 Artists Who Had To Cancel Tours

There are a thousand reasons why an artist is forced to cancel a tour: Their own illness or injury, their own mental health, their own safety, their decision to prioritize working on different projects than touring… and sometimes the decision isn’t even in the artists’ hands.

Trust us: We know. It is ALWAYS — and we mean ALWAYS — disappointing when your fave has to cancel a tour or part of the tour, because who wants to be let down like that? Even in this photo gallery alone, two of our editors missed out on a Justin Bieber show and a Jonas Brothers show because of cancellations. We get it. It sucks hardcore.

But just remember, there will usually always be another time to see your fave (or faves) in concert. You just understand, accept it, and believe that one day, you’ll see them live.

Below are 12 artists who had to cancel tours and their reasons for doing so. Remember: Celebs are humans, too.

1. Justin Bieber

Year: 2017

Reason: He prioritized his mental health over the last 12 shows of his Purpose tour.

2. Adele

Year: 2011

Reason: Vocal cord hemorrhage surgery.

3. Kanye West

Year: 2016

Reason: Kanye famously checked into a rehab facility to focus on his mental health, which is understandably more important than touring.

4. Ariana Grande

Year: 2017

Reason: Ariana may have canceled a few days after the horrific bombing at her Manchester show, but she proved that music, and love, and faith, and hope will guide you forward — and she did NOT cancel the rest of her Dangerous Woman tour.

Year: 2014

Reason: She had a chest infection.

6. Kelly Clarkson

Year: 2015

Reason: Kelly was forced to go on vocal rest for one year.

11. Iggy Azalea

Year: 2019

Reason: Sadly, Iggy had to cancel her second tour in three years. She tweeted to fans that the choice was out of her hands: “The choice was out of my hands and not my call to make. I hope I will get to see you all in person one day. I love you.” The rapper later announced she had parted ways with her record label.

12. Little Mix

Year: 2014
