Prince Harry & Meghan Markle 'Emotional' After Being Excluded By The Queen

Commonwealth Day Service 2020

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended their final engagement as working royals on Monday (March 9). They reunited publicly with Prince William and Kate Middleton at the event for the first time since announcing they'd be stepping down and their interactions were awkward to say the least.

Not only did Meghan and Harry have a chilly reunion with the Cambridges, they were reportedly offended by Queen Elizabeth's decision to exclude them from her entrance processional. According to a Daily Mail source, the Sussexes were "quite sensitive and emotional about" being left out.

The Queen's initial plan was reportedly for Kate and William to walk in with Her Majesty, Prince Charles, and Duchess Camilla, all while Harry and Meghan sat and watched from the sidelines. When Kate and William became aware that Harry and Meghan were upset, they reportedly "stepped in to defuse the situation" and decided to opt out of joining the processional.

As the Commonwealth Day Service was Meghan and Harry's final royal engagement for the next 12 months at least, it's unclear when the Fab Four will be seen together again. Both couples are expected to attend Princess Beatrice's wedding later this spring, though, so perhaps they'll get a chance to catch up then.
