Kodak Black is putting all of his energy into his comeback. While the "Roll in Peace" rapper could be making tons of cash on club appearances and performances after his release from prison last week, TMZ reports that Kodak is focusing solely on giving his fans new music.
"A number of promoters have reached out to his camp with offers," some for as much as $125K, a source told the site, however, "his priority is recording new music."
As previously reported, the 21-year-old Florida rapper ā born Dieuson Octave ā was released from Broward County Jail on August 18, after serving 7 months of his initial yearlong sentence. Following his release, Kodak headed straight to be with his mom and son. And days later he was spotted filming what appeared to be a new music video.
According to TMZ, Kodak was in solitary for most of his time behind bars and spent that time writing new music. āThereās times heās sharing with me what heās written down, what heās working on,ā Dyryk, Kodakās producer/engineer, told Complex about the rapperās time in jail. āFor the times that he wanted to record over the phone, he was like, āMan, record this real quick.ā And I just record it. I know itās fresh in his mind.ā
Kodak made the most of his time behind bars. He earned his GED, and legally changed his name to Bill K. Kapri, in an effort to have what his lawyer Bradford Cohen called a "fresh start." He even wrote a book. "Just read the rough draft inedited version of @KodakBlack1k s new book! You don't know someone unless you walk a mile in his/her shoes," his lawyer tweeted back in May. "A very inflective look at who he is and where he is going."
