Jennifer Lawrence Injured While Filming Upcoming Movie

Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence was injured while filming her upcoming Netflix movie 'Don't Look Up' in Brockton, Massachusetts on Friday (February 5), causing production to be halted.

Lawrence was injured after shattered glass hit her eye during the filming of an explosion scene Thursday (February 4) night, as first reported by Page Six and confirmed by WCVB, who was told by sources that Lawrence is expected to be OK.

Photos shared by the Enterprise showed Lawrence was filming a scene alongside actor Timothee Chalamet on Main Street at the time of her injury.

The Adam McKay directed Netflix film set up in December and features Lawrence and fellow Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as a star-studded cast including Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan, Cate Blanchett, Himesh Patel, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry and Tomer Sisley.

'Don't Look Up' centers around a couple of scientists attempting to save the world six months ahead of an astroid strike.

The Netflix film was initially scheduled to begin filming last spring and stream in December 2020, but was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and is now scheduled for release in 2021. Cast and crew have been following strict coronavirus safety protocols during filming, which has included going into quarantine and undergoing testing before reporting to the set, the Boston Globe reports.
