Miley Cyrus Cancels Bushfire Benefit Concert Due To Coronavirus

Miley Cyrus has nixed her trip to Australia for a bushfire relief concert due to the ongoing concerns surrounding the coronavirus.

Three days before the show, Cyrus, 27, took to social media to reveal that authorities have suggested she call off the upcoming show, which was set to see all proceeds go directly to Australian charities aiding relief efforts. "Due to the recommendations of local, state, federal and international government authorities, including the Center for Disease Control, to reduce potential health risks in response to the current global health crisis, we are no longer traveling to Aus for the show," Cyrus wrote in a message on Twitter.

"I am so disappointed to not be there, but I have to do what is right to protect the health and safety of my band and crew," she continued. "I will still be making a donation to help the victims of the Australian bush fire. I’m sorry to miss everyone in Australia, but I will be back soon."

Cyrus was set to headline the Friday evening, alongside Lil Nas X, with an appearance by Jojo Siwa. The Guardian has since reported that ticket holders will be refunded for their purchases. As you know, the devastating bushfires destroyed nearly 30 million acres of bushland, killing 33 people and an estimated one billion native animals.
