NBA Youngboy Under Fire Over Controversial Comments About Nipsey Hussle

NBA Youngboy is under fire after an interview leaked, showing him making what some have called "controversial" comments about Nipsey Hussle's death.

On Tuesday (August 6), DJ Akademiks shared a 16-second clip of what looked like was an impromptu interview with Youngboy, following Nipsey's passing on March 31. "I can't show fake love," the 19-year-old rapper responded when asked if he was impacted by the 31-year-old rapper and activist's death. "I don't know him, but God Bless his family, I guess."

The video immediately divided the Internet, as some blasted Youngboy for "disrespecting" Nipsey, whose work and community contributions have been revered since his untimely passing, while others supported the New Orleans rapper's statement. "No one asked him to show “fake love” or ride his di*k. I understand him not jumping on bandwagon but his demeanor/body language/tone of voice was disrespectful for no reason," one fan wrote. "Instead of caping for a man he didn’t know he could have spoke on the bigger issue of gun violence/b-on-b crime 🤦‍♂️." Another added, "It went over his head🤦🏽‍♀️ how can you not be impacted by a man of God & good character... these times we in boy I tell you ..."

Youngboy's supporters also shared their thoughts on social media, commenting, "Bruh y’all wanted him to be like ' nipsey meant a lot to me he helped motivate me to get to where I am?! Lol he’s a kid from Baton Rouge and never crossed paths or anything with that man. At least he wasn’t fake and he still said god bless that man family. 🤷🏿‍♂️💯."

A second fan simply wrote, "Ain’t say nothin wrong, people just want something to be mad abt."

As fans know, Youngboy is currently behind bars. The "Valuable Pain" rapper, whose legal name is Kentrell Gaulden, will be released from jail on August 15 after serving nearly three months in jail for his involvement in a May 12 shootout in South Florida that left one person dead and two injured.
